The Kenya Association of Stock Brokers and Investment banks has called for the suspension of the capital gains tax. The tax requires the brokers to deduct capital gains tax at the rate of 7.5 percent from investors’ gains on the stock market. Local stockbrokers and investment banks have vowed not to pay the capital gains tax. In a statement issued by the Kenya Association of Stockbrokers and Investment Banks (KASIB), the association contends that there is no legal basis for stockbrokers to deduct the tax on profit earned from trading in shares and other investment securities.

Sandile Shezi has successfully learnt how to trade currencies and at just 23 he's become one of the youngest multi-millionaires in the country.
